As we enter the last quarter, the moon once again resembles the Yin Yang symbol. This time, it has me reflecting on my relationship. I always tell my husband that I feel we are similar to the Yin Yang because we are opposite yet complimentary in so many ways. Air and earth, I ground him and he lightens me. We each have different roles we play to make our family whole. However, sometimes we lose sight of the beauty in our differences and can start to feel resentful instead.
Resentment occurs when a boundary or need has not been communicated. No one is a mind reader and as much as you may think something is common sense, there’s no such thing. Everyone has a different perspective and what may be common sense to you is not common sense to everyone. Communication is key. Letting go of resentment is an act of self love as well.
Here is a poem I wrote about resentment, while I may have been feeling a bit resentful myself.
What would it be like to be the sun?
To shine all day
To see work and play
To provide and protect
To be thanked and admired
Do you ever wonder what it’s like to be the moon?
They call me moody but I am constantly changed by your placement
I’m in the shadows and under appreciated
Don’t they see what I do?
Without me there wouldn’t be enough light in the dark.
All night, I give of myself while you are away.
But yet they still thank you instead.
“Shes so lazy she doesn’t make her own light. It’s really him making it all happen, she should be thankful,” they say.
The world chases you, while I’m left to chase the world
A thankless job.
Women understand the moon,
Because the moon understands them.
I understand you.
Can you understand me?
Can’t we just agree we both light the world in our own ways?
Communicate to let go of resentment. Feel gratitude for all of the good your loved ones do. Have a happy Valentine’s Day!

THIS POEM! I love it so much, I’m saving it to read over and over.
